I've read Piper's book on this. I am of the opinion that he is on the right track. I'm all for biblical theology, but there are differences between the new and old testaments, which is part of Piper's point. And something Wright misses.
The difference between the Old Testament and New Testament may be evident to John Piper, but I don't think this distinction is quite so evident to the Apostle Paul. When Paul discusses Justification, it is almost always in the context of Abraham. And it isn't that Paul is just using a good sermon illustration from the Old Testament--he talks about Abraham because Abraham is the beginning of the Family of God into which a person enters as a "Justified Believer." I have a post up on my new blog that explains Galatians 2:16 (Paul's earliest statement of the doctrine of Justification), that expounds the Wrightean perspective.
